Where it started…

Our story began by a mountain spring in Anakiwa, Queen Charlotte Sound, New Zealand.

This past Christmas, while visiting family, our daughter gifted us a nature sauna experience. It was simple, grounding, and unforgettable — steam rising into the cool air, the contrast of heat and cold, the stillness of nature, and the way it made you slow down and truly feel.

Stepping from the warmth into the cold spring, there was a moment of shock… and then calm. Clarity. A sense of coming back to ourselves.

In that moment, something clicked. “We need one of these back home… on the Murray River in Albury.”

Surrounded by gum trees, flowing water, and open sky — Riverside Precinct felt like the perfect place to bring this experience to life.

And just like that, Sauna Society was born.

What started as a single experience has grown into a vision — to create spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with each other. Because we realised it wasn’t just something we loved — it was something people are deeply craving.

In a world that rarely slows down — where we’re constantly switched on, stretched thin, and pulled in every direction — sauna offers something deeply needed. The rhythm of heat and cold helps renew the body, strengthen the mind, and build resilience so we can better navigate the stresses of modern life.

Sauna Society isn’t just about saunas. It’s about creating space to pause, to breathe, and to return to yourself. A place where strangers become community, and moments become ritual.

We created Sauna Society so you can experience it too — to step in, slow down, and feel it for yourself.

Because when you step out, you don’t just feel refreshed — you feel clearer, calmer, and more like yourself again.
